This conference is targeted for scientists, researchers, university lecturers, students, NGO’s, government officials and interested individuals in conservation biology particularly in the Asian context.

What is SCB?
SCB is the Society for Conservation Biology. The Society for Conservation Biology (SCB) is an international professional organization dedicated to promoting the scientific study of the phenomena that affect the maintenance, loss, and restoration of biological diversity. Are there any scholarships available to attend the conference?
The organizing committee is attempting to provide scholarships for deserving participants subject to funding availability. Details are currently being worked out. More information will be available by 19 March 2014.
Is accommodation provided for the conference?
Unfortunately accommodation is not provided. However Melaka is a city with many reasonably priced accommodations. The Local Organizing Committee has listed hotels/lodges/inns with special discounts which are located within a 1-2km proximity of the conference venue. Participants are encouraged to contact these hotels at the soonest to avoid disappointment. Please also note that Melaka is a famous tourist destination in Melaka and 2014 is Visit Malaysia Year. Alternatively, participants also may stay at the conference venue.
Are meals provided?
Meals during the conference are provided which includes tea breaks, lunches and 2 dinners. Rest of the meals are at participant’s own cost. Vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals will be provided. However participants are requested to specify choice upon registration.
How do I volunteer?
The local organizing committee is looking for volunteers. Details for volunteer application, fees and deadlines will be updated soon.
How do I get to Melaka?
Melaka is a southern state in Peninsular Malaysia accessible by road from Singapore, Kuala Lumpur International Airport 1 (KLIA1) and Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2). More options on travel information can be obtained under this link. The best option will be to travel by bus or by hiring a private taxi/ car at the airports.
How do I join workshops?
The pre and post conference workshops are held at various venues. It is the participants responsibility to register online and turn up for the workshops on time if interested. For more information on workshops, check the Programme tab.
How do I join a field trip?
The local organizing committee have collaborated with local travel agents to organize customized field trips to Pulau Tioman, Endau Rompin Rainforest and Taman Negara. Interested participants should contact the tour providers themselves and make arrangements for these trips at a date most convenient. This can be found under field tours
